The town, plagued by spotty cellular reception and superstitious locals, becomes the setting for a series of events that challenge Loftis’s leadership when his citizens’ fears about the island’s curse prove justified. Murai, known for his work on FX’s “The Bear” and “Atlanta,” joined the project after creator Katie Dippold approached him with a spec script she had been holding for over a decade. Dippold restructured the script to align with modern television trends, blending elements of horror and comedy. Murai, who has always been drawn to the genre’s unique challenges, described the process as both intimidating and rewarding. “There’s a lot of storm work coming up in the season that was always really intimidating to me,” he told Variety. “But we built it in a way that I was very happy with the results.” The production’s scale was notable, with one episode set entirely within a storm. Murai emphasized the difficulty of simulating such environments practically, noting that the effort was both a pain and a fun challenge. “It was a large-scale production tasked to set an entire episode inside of a storm,” he said. Murai’s involvement in “Widow’s Bay” also highlights his ongoing relationship with FX Networks.#apple_tv #hiro_murai #katie_dippold #fx_networks #chum_films https://variety.com/2026/tv/news/widows-bay-premiere-director-hiro-murai-apple-fx-deal-1236733284/
