Three, Including Six-Year-Old Boy, Drown in Kanhan River During Family Picnic A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon when three individuals, including a six-year-old boy, drowned while enjoying a family picnic along the Kanhan River in Nagpur. The incident occurred at Mahadev Ghat, where two families had gathered for a leisurely outing. The victims were identified as Gautam Ambade (31), his nephew Chaitanya (6), and Rohit Nagdevte (35), an e-rickshaw driver from Kumbhare Colony in Kamptee. According to police reports, the incident took place around 12:30 PM. Chaitanya, a KG student, was part of a family group of 13 members who had arrived at the riverbank. Meanwhile, Nagdevte led another family from Kamptee to the location. While the adults from both families were preparing food, Chaitanya strayed away from his group and ventured into the river. He slipped into a deep water pit, prompting Gautam, who was unable to swim, to jump into the river to rescue his nephew. However, he became trapped in strong currents. Nagdevte, who had noticed the drowning incident, rushed to assist the uncle and nephew. In the process, he also drowned. Gautam’s father, Rajkumar (55), attempted to save his son and grandson but was unsuccessful. Despite his efforts, he managed to swim back to safety with great difficulty. A police team from Old Kamptee Police Station, led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Manish Hiwarkar and Sub-Inspector Sagar Bhandari, arrived at the scene. The officers conducted an extensive search operation in the water, eventually recovering the bodies of the three victims. The police completed the necessary procedures and sent the bodies for autopsy. Sources indicated that Army personnel also assisted in the recovery efforts.#kanhan_river #mahadev_ghat #gautam_ambade #chaitanya #rohit_nagdevte
