According to the complaint filed by Santosh’s relative, Gopal Gaur, 66, the deceased had contacted him on the evening of June 29 to repair his bike. Around 5:30 p.m., as Santosh parked his vehicle near a shop, a portion of the Narayan Das Hasan Das Chamber building collapsed. The debris fell directly onto Santosh, a nearby car, and four motorcycles, leaving him severely injured. He was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death. Investigations revealed that the building had been in a state of disrepair for several days prior to the collapse. Just five days before the incident, debris had fallen in front of a scooter shop, prompting the owner, Suresh Khandwani, to be informed of the structural risks. However, police stated that Khandwani took no action to repair the building, despite the clear danger. The probe found that his negligence contributed directly to the fatal collapse. Authorities are now conducting a thorough examination of the building’s structural integrity and whether maintenance norms were violated.
