Army Chief Honors Retired Soldier with 'Veteran Achiever Award' Retired Indian Army craftsman Dhirajkumar Satpute from Amravati was honored with the 'Veteran Achiever Award' by General Upendra Dwivedi, chief of the Army staff, during a ceremony held at the Colaba Army Camp in Mumbai. The award acknowledges Satpute's post-retirement contributions, particularly his efforts to inspire youth to join the armed forces and support ex-servicemen and their families in addressing administrative and welfare challenges. General Dwivedi was joined by DS Kushwaha, General Officer Commanding of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa, who presented Satpute with a certificate of honor and a medal. After completing his military service, Satpute dedicated himself to social work, focusing on the welfare of veterans across Maharashtra. Through outreach programs, he has actively encouraged young people to consider careers in the armed forces, delivering motivational lectures in schools and colleges to promote patriotism and awareness of military opportunities. Additionally, he has collaborated closely with ex-servicemen to assist them in resolving pension, documentation, and administrative issues that often arise after retirement. His consistent efforts to support the veteran community and maintain a connection between the armed forces and society were recognized through the award. Several other veterans were also honored at the ceremony for their contributions in various fields. Among those recognized were veteran Colonel Srinavetu Chatterjee, Lieutenant Colonel Kamalpreet Saggi, JCO Subedar Major Saravan R, Sergeant Edmund Peter Francis, and Chief Petty Officer Shashi Bhushan Mishra.
