BCCI Announces Replacement Squad for England ODI Series and Zimbabwe T20 Series The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced replacements for two key players in its squad for the upcoming England ODI series and Zimbabwe T20 series. Fast bowler Harshita Rana and spinner Varun Chakravarthy, both sidelined due to hamstring injuries, will miss the matches. Rana’s injury, classified as a Grade-1 hamstring strain, occurred during the third T20 match against England at Trent Bridge, while Chakravarthy’s Grade-2 injury, also sustained in the same game, has necessitated a longer recovery period. Both players will undergo treatment and rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru. In the ODI series against England, Rana’s spot will be filled by leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who will join the squad for the Zimbabwe T20 series. Bishnoi’s inclusion strengthens India’s spin attack, particularly for the T20 format. Meanwhile, Prince Yadav, a pace bowler, has been selected as Rana’s replacement for the ODI series. Yadav, who previously played in T20 matches against Ireland and Afghanistan, is expected to provide pace and variety to the team. The captaincy for the England ODI series has been entrusted to Shubman Gill, with senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah also set to feature. Gill’s leadership will be tested against a strong English team, with the series scheduled to begin on July 14 at Birmingham. The matches will take place on July 14, 16, and 19, with the final game at Lord’s. For the Zimbabwe T20 series, Shreyas Iyer has been appointed captain, supported by Tilak Varma as vice-captain. Iyer’s leadership will be crucial in navigating the challenges of the T20 format, particularly with the inclusion of Bishnoi’s spin bowling.#bcci #shubman_gill #varun_chakravarthy #ravi_bishnoi #harshita_rana
