301 Industrial Plots Remain Idle in Nagpur Division as 39 Reclaimed by Government Nagpur: The state government has revealed that 301 industrial plots across the four districts of the Nagpur division—Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Wardha—have been constructed with factory-related infrastructure but remain unused, with their units shuttered. Industries minister Uday Samant provided this information in a written reply to the legislative council on Friday. According to Samant, the state has reclaimed 39 of these plots so far and has issued notices to the holders through the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). MLCs raised a starred question in the legislative council, highlighting that 301 plots across 34 industrial areas in the four districts had seen no production or construction as of April 2026. They pointed out that approximately 411 acres in the Hingna and Butibori estates remained unused, hindering Nagpur’s industrial growth and prompting local youth to migrate to cities like Pune and Mumbai for employment. Samant acknowledged that the claims were partially accurate. He explained that of the plots allotted in the four districts, 301 had construction but their units were closed due to the holders’ financial instability, ongoing court cases, or other reasons. The MIDC had served notices to the holder companies, urging them to address the issues. In the Hingna and Butibori estates specifically, 153 plots with shut units were identified, spread over 270 acres.
