Collector to Form Safety Committee with PESO, DISH Nagpur: In response to growing concerns over industrial safety following recent blasts at explosive-handling units in the city, the district administration has decided to establish a joint monitoring panel comprising regulators and technical experts. The initiative aims to strengthen oversight mechanisms and address risks associated with industrial operations. Nagpur collector Kumar Ashirwad announced the formation of the committee during an informal media interaction, emphasizing its role in conducting regular inspections, standardizing operating procedures, and implementing structured worker training programs. The committee will include officials from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH), the district administration, and independent technical experts. Ashirwad highlighted that the panel will focus on mitigating risks posed by undertrained contractual workers and operational lapses. He noted that industries often deploy such workers after minimal training, which he described as dangerous. "Even experienced workers can become complacent over time," he warned, adding that these workers could be developed into master trainers to improve safety standards. Ashirwad, who recently assumed his role as Nagpur collector, stressed the administration’s goal of moving beyond reactive measures to create a long-term industrial safety framework. This includes periodic inspections, training systems, and operational audits. He mentioned that several meetings had already been held with relevant departments to address recent industrial accidents.#lpg_shortage #petroleum_and_explosives_safety_organisation #directorate_of_industrial_safety_and_health #nagpur_collector_kumar_ashirwad #htbt_cotton_seeds
