A key milestone in his career was the establishment of the "Lake Police" unit in 2002, which successfully prevented suicides in the Hussain Sagar area, saving thousands of lives. He also launched the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) to tackle drug trafficking, a initiative that earned international recognition. Anand’s efforts to integrate technology into policing, such as IT-driven reforms in civil supplies, helped the government save approximately ₹2,000 crore in public expenditure.
