Hyderabad rains trigger massive traffic snarls across city for second consecutive day Persistent rainfall continued for the second consecutive day, plunging Hyderabad into severe traffic chaos. The IT Corridor and other critical areas of the city faced prolonged congestion, with waterlogging, ongoing infrastructure projects, and fallen trees exacerbating the situation. Rescue teams worked tirelessly to clear roads and assist stranded residents, but delays persisted throughout the day. The downpour disrupted daily commutes, with motorists reporting slow-moving traffic and significant delays during peak hours. Public transport services also faced challenges, as key junctions became bottlenecks, leading to extended travel times for passengers. The congestion was most severe in areas such as Hi-Tech City, Gachibowli, Madhapur, the Financial District, IKEA Junction, Kondapur, Kothaguda Junction, Hafeezpet, and Miyapur. In these locations, traffic movement was delayed by two to three hours. At IIIT junction and Khajaguda junction in Gachibowli, ongoing flyover and underpass construction projects worsened the situation. Water stagnation on these stretches further compounded the problem, causing vehicles to move at a snail’s pace. Despite efforts by traffic personnel to manage vehicle flow, the delays persisted into the late evening. Dozens of private buses traveling to ORR and the Shamshabad side were trapped in traffic jams, resulting in delays of three to four hours compared to their original schedules. Authorities deployed the Hydraa DRF and MRT teams to address the crisis.
