The airline, which already operates services from the airport, is set to expand its network with additional routes focused on the northeastern states, southern India, Goa, and Srinagar. The new flights are expected to commence during the winter season, contingent on the availability of flight slots and operational readiness. The approval comes as part of efforts to enhance connectivity for travelers from Bareilly and surrounding districts. Currently, the airport offers domestic flights to Bengaluru, Navi Mumbai, Delhi, and Noida. Future plans include expanding services to cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kushinagar, Goa, Srinagar, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Guwahati, and Jaipur. These routes are anticipated to reduce the need for long-distance travel via Delhi or Lucknow, offering more direct options for passengers. Akasa Air’s new routes will utilize Boeing 737 aircraft, with formalities for operations expected to be completed soon. Airport Director Avadesh Agrawal highlighted the importance of these developments during an Independence Day event, emphasizing that the airline’s expansion aligns with the airport’s goal of improving regional connectivity. He noted that the new services will depend on slot availability and operational logistics, ensuring a smooth rollout. Infrastructure upgrades at Bareilly Airport are also underway to support the growing demand.
