Union Public Service Commission Announces Civil Services Examination Results The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) on March 6, 2026, recommending 958 candidates for appointments to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Central Services roles across India. This comes despite 1,087 vacancies remaining unfilled. Among the selected candidates, 659 are men and 299 are women. Anuj Agnihotri, a graduate of AIIMS, Jodhpur, secured the top rank in the examination, with Medical Science as his optional subject. Rajeshwari Suve, a graduate in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, came in second with Sociology as her optional subject. The third rank was achieved by Akansh Dhull, a graduate of Delhi University. The Civil Services (Preliminary) examination was held on May 25, 2025, with 9.37 lakh candidates applying for the exam. Of these, 5.76 lakh appeared for the test. The candidature of 348 candidates has been provisionally reserved for further verification. Among the top 30 candidates, nearly all had previously attempted the examination. For most, this was their third attempt, with some having secured appointments in earlier years but seeking higher ranks. Astha Jain, who previously received an IPS posting after securing rank 131 in 2023 and rank 186 in 2024, achieved rank 9 this year. She expressed her desire to contribute to policy-making rather than administrative roles.
