Lucknow University Introduces New Patent Policy for Faculty and Students Lucknow University has unveiled a comprehensive Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) policy, effective from Tuesday, aimed at streamlining the process of patent filing for its faculty and students. Under the new framework, the university will now cover the costs associated with patent filings, a change that shifts the financial burden from individuals to institutional support. This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster innovation and ensure that academic and research outputs are protected and commercialized effectively. A dedicated Intellectual Property Management (IPM) cell has been established to oversee the implementation of the policy. The cell, led by Prof Geetanjali Misra, will serve as the central authority for managing all intellectual property generated at the university. Its responsibilities include handling patent filings, licensing agreements, technology transfer, drafting legal contracts, appointing legal experts, maintaining detailed documentation, and educating faculty, students, and staff about IPR norms. Additionally, the IPM cell will focus on building partnerships to facilitate the commercialization of intellectual property and establish an IPR fund to support patent-related activities from inception to completion. The policy outlines the rights and responsibilities of various stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, students, staff, and external collaborators. It emphasizes fair revenue sharing mechanisms and transparent agreements for sponsored research, consultancy projects, and collaborative ventures.#lucknow_university #intellectual_property_rights #ipm_cell #prof_geetanjali_misra #vice_chancellor_jp_saini
