Three Flyers Players Named to 2026 IIHF World Championship Rosters Three members of the Philadelphia Flyers have been selected to represent their respective national teams at the 2026 IIHF World Championship, which will be held in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland, from May 15 to May 31. The trio includes forward Porter Martone, who will compete for Team Canada, and defensemen Carl Grundstrom and Jack Berglund, both of whom will suit up for Team Sweden. Porter Martone – Team Canada Martone, a forward from Peterborough, Ontario, has been named to Team Canada for the eighth time in his career. This selection marks his second consecutive appearance at the World Championship, following his participation in the 2025 edition. Martone has previously represented Canada at multiple international tournaments, including two World Junior Championships (2025 and 2024), one World Championship (2025), two World Under-18 Championships (2023 and 2022), the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, and the 2023 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge. This past season, Martone signed an entry-level contract with the Flyers on March 29 after concluding his collegiate career at Michigan State University (NCAA). During his freshman year at MSU, he led his team in goals (25) and points (50). In his first season with the Flyers, he recorded 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in nine regular-season games. Martone also contributed two goals and three assists in 10 playoff contests. Carl Grundstrom – Team Sweden Grundstrom, a forward from Umea, Sweden, has been named to Team Sweden’s roster for the 2026 IIHF World Championship.
