Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria Advocates Global Peace Through Jain Teachings Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria urged people to embrace the principles of truth, non-violence, and non-attachment taught by Lord Mahavira to achieve lasting world peace during a program inaugurated at Mahavira Bhavan in Belagavi on March 29, 2026. The event coincided with the Janma Kalyanaka, the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavira. Speaking at the occasion, Kataria emphasized that global unrest stems from human greed rather than natural causes and called for adherence to Mahavira’s universal message for humanity’s welfare. Kataria highlighted that Lord Mahavira’s teachings, delivered over 2,624 years ago, remain relevant for all people, not just Jains. “Being a Jain is simple,” he said, “as long as one follows the principles and doctrines of Mahavira.” He urged individuals to avoid ego, anger, and attachment, stressing that self-discipline could lead to embodying Mahavira’s virtues. The governor also praised India’s role in fostering global peace and humanism, citing the nation’s efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that Indian scientists developed vaccines and distributed them free to the global community, showcasing the country’s commitment to human welfare. Kataria also lauded the Jain community’s contributions to the economy and society, while acknowledging the efforts of KLE Society honorary chairman Prabhakar Kore for his work in education and healthcare. In response to the felicitation, Dr. Kore thanked the Jain community for its economic and social impact. Kataria drew parallels between Mahavira’s teachings and the work of historical figures like Basaveshwara, who challenged caste and gender discrimination in the 12th century.#belagavi #gulab_chand_kataria #punjab_governor #mahavira_bhavan #janma_kalyanaka
