Sumalata Master Elected President of Dancers' Association Amid Leadership Challenges Sumalata Master, the wife of Jany Master, was elected as the president of the Dancers' Association on December 1 of last year. Her term is set to end in December of the following year. However, she was removed from her position due to ongoing issues within the association. On a recent Sunday, members of the Union Dancers gathered in Krishnagar, Hyderabad, where the association announced the election of new members to the executive committee. The association's current leadership includes Raghava Master as president, Meher Babu Master as secretary, Basavraj as vice president, and Rajann as joint secretary. Additional members include Satish, Nagarjuna, Shiv Krishna, and Jozo, though all are interim members. Raghava Master emphasized that the association has faced challenges since 1997, when leaders like Dassari collaborated to establish craft unions and promote the industry. He highlighted the lack of support from the federation, which has historically provided assistance to such associations. Speaking at the meeting, Raghava Master noted that the issue is not solely about masters but pertains to the broader concerns of dancers. He explained that the federation oversees 24 craft unions and that dancers must address wage issues through the federation. He urged the federation to recognize the association’s needs, stating that all members should unite to support the association. Raghava Master also called for a re-election process, allowing Sumalata to compete again, and emphasized that there are no conflicts within the association—only a single rule for all members. He further stated that if the association’s members sign minutes books and submit them to the federation, elections can proceed immediately.#dancers_association #sumalata_master #jany_master #raghava_master #krishnagar_hyderabad
