Nimble companies are succeeding in the AI era: YC's Jared Friedman The companies that are succeeding in the AI era are those that can pivot quickly and adapt to rapid technological changes, according to Jared Friedman, managing partner at Y Combinator. Speaking at VibeCon in Bengaluru on April 17, Friedman highlighted how AI startup founders are iterating their ideas more frequently than ever before, leveraging strong engineering talent in India to gain a competitive edge. He cited examples such as Giga and Emergent, two companies that initially pursued different concepts during their time in Y Combinator’s program but later refined their approaches to align with evolving market demands. Friedman explained that many startups funded by Y Combinator begin with one idea, only to shift toward subsequent iterations—sometimes up to four or five—before settling on a viable product. “The companies that are succeeding are the ones that are very nimble,” he said. “When the world of AI changes, they just change their ideas.” He emphasized that the ability to rapidly adapt is critical in an environment where technological advancements are constant and unpredictable. The managing partner also noted that the current success rate of Y Combinator startups is at an all-time high, driven by the vast opportunities available in the AI landscape. “There is more opportunity than ever for enterprising people who can find great ideas and move quickly on them,” Friedman stated. He attributed India’s growing prominence in this space to its pool of skilled engineers, who can execute complex projects with speed and precision. “The folks in India are going to have an advantage because they are such great builders,” he added, underscoring the importance of rapid development in the AI era.#bengaluru #openclaw #yc #jared_friedman #vibecon
