Los Angeles Chargers Sign Kayode Awosika The Los Angeles Chargers officially announced the signing of guard Kayode Awosika on March 25, 2026. The 28-year-old offensive lineman joins the team after spending the past four seasons with the Detroit Lions, where he played a key role on an offensive line that supported one of the NFL’s most prolific rushing attacks. Awosika, who was undrafted in 2021, began his professional career with the Philadelphia Eagles before moving to Detroit, where he became a reliable starter over the last four years. Awosika’s tenure with the Lions included contributions to a unit that protected quarterback Jared Goff, allowing him to throw for over 4,000 yards each season. The offensive line also paved the way for three different running backs to rush for more than 1,000 yards during their time in Detroit. In 2025, Awosika appeared in 50 regular-season games, starting 11, and also participated in four postseason contests, including one start. His experience and versatility make him a valuable addition to the Chargers’ offensive line. Prior to his NFL career, Awosika played collegiately at the University at Buffalo. After redshirting in 2017, he started 32 of 37 games over his four seasons. In 2020, he earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors while anchoring a rushing attack that averaged 287.4 yards per game, ranking second nationally. The following year, he was a second-team All-MAC selection as the Bulls set a program record with 3,256 rushing yards. As a sophomore in 2018, Awosika started 14 games at right tackle, helping the team achieve a school-record 36 touchdown runs. The signing of Awosika marks another move in the Chargers’ offseason strategy to strengthen their offensive line.#los_angeles_chargers #detroit_lions #university_at_buffalo #kayode_awosika #jared_goff
