AMBER Alert Issued for Missing Teen Mom and Toddler After New Information Emerges Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar has issued an AMBER Alert for 15-year-old Escarleth Vasquez and her 1-year-old son, Alejandro Vasquez, following new developments in their disappearance. The pair vanished from their home in the 7000 block of Phoenix Path on the Northeast Side of San Antonio on Saturday, May 9, and have not been seen since. Deputies confirmed their last known contact was around 1 p.m. that day, though their whereabouts remain unknown. Escarleth, originally from Honduras and undocumented, was living in foster care when she disappeared. She left behind a note for her guardian requesting that authorities not be contacted and asking for her belongings to be sent to Honduras. Authorities have not confirmed whether she is with a boyfriend, as speculated by investigators, nor have they identified any confirmed sightings of the mother and child. The Texas Department of Public Safety authorized the AMBER Alert after Child Protective Services (CPS) continued its investigation following the initial report. Salazar explained that the case initially did not meet the state’s criteria for an AMBER Alert due to insufficient information. However, CPS’s ongoing efforts uncovered enough details to qualify for the alert. “Once that happened, the alert was issued, but we’re still the managing agency on the case,” Salazar stated during a Tuesday briefing. Alejandro, a U.S. citizen, was reported missing alongside his mother. His biological father is currently incarcerated, according to the sheriff. Escarleth is described as 5 feet tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
