KC Tyagi joins Jayant Choudhary's RLD days after quitting JD(U) KC Tyagi, a founding member of Nitish Kumar's party, resigned from the Janata Dal (United) on March 17. He did not specify the reason for his exit from the party. The veteran JD(U) leader joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in the presence of its president Jayant Choudhary on Sunday. Tyagi, a former Rajya Sabha MP, stated that there is no difference between JD(U) and RLD, as both parties share the ideals of Chaudhary Charan Singh, Karpoori Thakur, and Ram Manohar Lohia. He told PTI that his decision to join the RLD was based on these shared principles. Tyagi clarified that he did not participate in the latest membership drive of JD(U), emphasizing there was no personal conflict with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He mentioned that the Rajya Sabha seat allocation was the reason for his non-participation. "I have been a member of JD(U) since its founding in 2003," he said, adding that his relationship with Nitish Kumar and the party remains unchanged. The resignation comes as Nitish Kumar is preparing to resign as Bihar chief minister following his election to the Rajya Sabha. His departure from state politics marks the end of a two-decade tenure as CM, causing concern among party cadres. The NDA has not yet announced a successor to lead the state government. Tyagi also addressed rumors about his potential candidacy for the Rajya Sabha, stating he has never sought a ticket. He noted that Nitish Kumar had offered him a seat in 2013 but he declined. Tyagi had previously resigned as JD(U)'s national chief spokesperson in September 2024. His association with the party dates back to its formation in 2003 after the merger of the Samata Party and Janata Dal. He held various roles, including chief general secretary, chief spokesperson, and political adviser.#nitish_kumar #jd_u #kc_tyagi #jayant_choudhary #rld
