Job Aspirants in Ranchi Demand Independent Probe into Paper Leaks Job aspirants in Ranchi, Jharkhand, have been staging a protest for over a week against alleged leaks in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (PSC) examination and other recruitment tests. The demonstrators, gathered at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium since July 29, have called for an independent investigation by retired high court judges from outside the state, accusing the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government of attempting to suppress the issue by assigning the probe to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The protesters claim that the CID’s investigation into the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC)-Combined Graduate Level (CGL) paper leak found answers to 135 out of 150 questions had been leaked, with 120 questions matching the examination paper exactly. Despite candidates submitting documentary evidence via email and WhatsApp, the authorities allegedly ignored their complaints. Vinay Mehta, a protester from Hazaribag district, told PTI that the government’s reliance on the CID has eroded public trust, stating, “We have completely lost faith in the ongoing CID investigation.” Mehta emphasized the need to hand over the probe to either the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or an independent panel of retired High Court judges, excluding any Jharkhand-based judges. The protest has also seen demands for the involvement of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), with protesters alleging large-scale financial transactions are linked to the alleged recruitment scam.
