The police launched a targeted anti-narcotics campaign, focusing on dismantling supply chains through intelligence-driven operations. The effort included aggressive actions such as backward and forward linkage probes, financial transaction analysis, monitoring of jail-released offenders, and close surveillance of repeat offenders. These measures were part of a broader strategy to disrupt the narcotics ecosystem, targeting both street-level dealers and key suppliers. In June 2026, the city police registered 425 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a 226-case increase from the 199 cases recorded in the first five months of 2026.
