88 Roads Blocked Across Himachal Pradesh Amid Heavy Rainfall Shimla: Heavy rainfall across Himachal Pradesh led to the closure of 88 roads on Tuesday, disrupting transportation and daily activities in several districts. The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) reported that Mandi recorded the highest number of road blockages, with 32 incidents across seven sub-divisions. Kullu followed with 25 closures in Nirmand, Kullu, Banjar, and Anni. Other affected areas included Sirmaur (10 closures), Kangra and Shimla (six each), Una and Chamba (four each), and Lahaul & Spiti (one closure). Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kinnaur, and Solan reported no road disruptions. The monsoon rainfall also impacted power and water infrastructure, with 12 distribution transformers (DTRs) damaged and 19 water supply schemes affected statewide. Officials emphasized the need for immediate repairs to restore essential services. A separate incident occurred during the Manimahesh pilgrimage in Chamba district, where a 24-year-old pilgrim, Kamal Kumar from Bilaspur, died at Sundarasi. The deceased had embarked on the journey from Hadsar on Saturday with five companions. The group stayed at Dhanchaoh on Saturday evening and resumed the trek toward Manimahesh on Sunday morning. Kamal reportedly fell ill near Shiv Gharat, prompting his companions to advise him to return to Dhanchaoh. Despite their warnings, he continued to Sundarasi. At a temporary shop along the route, Kamal stopped and lay down while his companions proceeded ahead. The shopkeeper later attempted to wake him but found him unresponsive.
