First Alert 6 Weather Day: Tracking Severe Storms in the Metro Area Friday has been designated a First Alert 6 Weather Day due to the risk of two separate rounds of severe weather. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. Friday. A second wave of storms is expected this evening, with strong winds and southward gusts potentially reaching 45 mph. These conditions could push afternoon high temperatures into the 60s. The evening storms, which are developing, may bring wind gusts, large hail, and isolated tornadoes as they move toward the east-southeast during the late afternoon and evening. The most likely timeframe for these storms is between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. The highest risk for tornadoes is anticipated in the southeast counties, extending further south into Kansas and Missouri. The storm activity is expected to subside relatively quickly, with calm conditions returning overnight and into the weekend for most areas. A Winter Weather Advisory is active for the northwestern counties, warning of icy road surfaces and up to 1 inch of snowfall. This advisory will remain in place until noon Saturday. The weekend is forecast to bring nearly ideal weather, with temperatures in the 50s on Saturday and the 70s on Sunday. The only potential inconvenience on Sunday will be gusty winds from the south-southwest, reaching up to 35 mph. Light rain showers may occur next week, though the chances are minimal.
