Nainital News: Storm in Ramnagar Claims Life of Child as Tree Falls A tragic incident occurred in Ramnagar on Monday night when a severe storm led to the death of a 10-year-old boy. The incident took place in the Ringoda village of the Bijrani Range within the Corbett Tiger Reserve. According to reports, the storm struck around 1 a.m., causing a sudden collapse of a haldar tree. The boy, Kanu Upadhyay, was found trapped under the fallen tree by his family and nearby residents after hearing the crash. Kanu, son of Prakash Upadhyay, had ventured outside his thatched hut during the night. The tree fell on him, pinning him beneath its massive trunk. His family and neighbors rushed to the scene upon hearing the impact, discovering him trapped. Emergency services, including the fire department, forest officials, and SDM Gopal Singh Chauhan, were promptly informed. After two hours of efforts, rescuers used a chainsaw to cut through the tree and recovered the child’s body. The family initially refused to conduct a postmortem examination, but police intervened to ensure the process was carried out. The deceased boy was a student at a private school in Dikulie. His body was then transported to the mortuary for further procedures. The incident highlights the dangers of severe weather in rural areas, where inadequate infrastructure and lack of preparedness can lead to fatal outcomes. Local authorities have since urged residents to remain vigilant during storm seasons and take necessary precautions to avoid similar tragedies.#ramnagar #ringoda_village #bijrani_range #corbett_tiger_reserve #kanu_upadhyay
