Gadkari Honors Thengadi and Chandrayan for Shaping Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Nagpur: Union minister Nitin Gadkari paid tribute to veteran trade union ideologue Dattopant Thengadi and late labour leader Bhausaheb Chandrayan on Sunday, highlighting their pivotal role in building and strengthening the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) during politically challenging periods. Gadkari delivered the tribute after receiving the inaugural Late Bhausaheb Chandrayan Memorial Award 2026, an event organized by the Centre for Development Research in Nagpur. The ceremony also marked the release of the book Samanyatil Asamanya Bhausaheb, authored by Kapil Chandrayan, Bhausaheb’s son. Gadkari described Chandrayan as the backbone of BMS, emphasizing the organization’s struggles during its formative years, particularly under Congress rule. Despite facing significant opposition, he noted that leaders like Chandrayan remained steadfast, fortifying the labor movement through discipline, dedication, and commitment. The minister also praised Dattopant Thengadi, the founder of BMS, calling him a visionary whose ideas profoundly influenced Chandrayan. “Bhausaheb worked throughout his life under Thengadi’s guidance and carried forward a socially-oriented approach to labor movements,” Gadkari stated. The minister recounted his personal connection to Chandrayan, recalling their first meeting during his time with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and while attending Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakhas in Mahal. Retired Supreme Court judge Vikas Sirpurkar was also present at the event. The ceremony underscored the enduring legacy of Chandrayan, whose contributions to labor rights and social justice continue to inspire.#nitin_gadkari #dattopant_thengadi #bhausaheb_chandrayan #centre_for_development_research #kapil_chandrayan
