Experts Advise One-Year Break for Jasprit Bumrah to Prevent Injuries Jasprit Bumrah, the star fast bowler, has once again been sidelined due to injury, raising concerns about his long-term fitness and workload management. Former Indian cricketer Karan Ghavri has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and team management to grant Bumrah a prolonged break to ensure his full recovery. Ghavri emphasized that partial fitness should not be a reason to include him in matches, as it could lead to further injuries and disrupt team balance. Bumrah’s latest injury stems from a setback during India’s tour of England, leaving him unfit for the Test series against Sri Lanka. As a result, he missed the first two Tests, with Akib Nabi stepping in as his replacement. Ghavri, who played in two World Cups for India, highlighted that Bumrah’s frequent injuries are a result of being pushed into high-intensity matches before he is fully fit. He warned that such practices risk not only the player’s health but also the team’s performance. Ghavri suggested that Bumrah should be given a minimum of six months, or even a full year, of rest to recover completely. “Until he is 100% fit, he should not return to the team,” Ghavri stated in an interview with Mid-Day. He criticized the current approach of rushing players back into action, which he believes exacerbates their workload and leads to recurring injuries. “A player who is only 50-60% fit should not be part of the team. Otherwise, they risk getting injured again and disrupting the team’s balance,” he added. The former all-rounder also called for a reevaluation of Bumrah’s participation in all three formats of the game. Ghavri argued that playing Tests, ODIs, and T20s simultaneously is unsustainable for a fast bowler of Bumrah’s age and workload.#jasprit_bumrah #board_of_control_for_cricket_in_india #mid_day #akib_nabi #karun_gavri
