Social security pension to be disbursed from June 24; no decision yet on women's pension: Kerala CM The Kerala government has announced that social security pensions will commence disbursement from June 24, with an official order to be issued on Tuesday. Chief Minister VD Satheesan clarified during a legislative assembly session that the Women's Security Pension, a separate scheme introduced by the previous administration in February 2026, is not part of the state’s social security pension framework. He emphasized that the current government would ensure uninterrupted payment of the social security pension, which is a key component of the state’s welfare initiatives. Satheesan addressed concerns about the verification process for pension beneficiaries, stating that a detailed review of the beneficiary list is underway to eliminate ineligible recipients while ensuring no eligible individual is excluded. He cited a case involving a resident in Los Angeles who reported that their pension for June had not been credited, prompting a discussion on the accuracy of the verification system. Leader of Opposition Pinarayi Vijayan questioned whether denying a mother’s pension benefits solely because her son resides abroad was justified, to which Satheesan responded that the government’s priority is to prevent any deserving beneficiary from being deprived of their entitlement. The Chief Minister also announced the initiation of a process to increase the monthly social security pension to Rs 3000, a key promise under the UDF’s Indira Guarantee. Additionally, he mentioned that the Oommen Chandy Insurance Scheme, another election commitment, is being developed to provide family insurance coverage of up to Rs 25 lakh.#los_angeles #pinarayi_vijayan #vd_satheesan #kerala_cm #oommen_chandy_insurance_scheme
