MahaRera clears over 10K housing projects in FY26 The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRera) approved 10,379 housing projects during the financial year 2025-26, marking a significant milestone in the state’s real estate sector. The approvals included 4,204 new project registrations, 2,488 corrections to existing projects, and 3,687 extensions granted to ongoing developments. This comprehensive action underscores MahaRera’s dual focus on regulatory oversight and fostering growth within the real estate industry. The authority emphasized that these approvals align with the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, which requires developers to seek MahaRera’s clearance for any modifications or timeline extensions beyond initial plans. Officials highlighted that adhering to these regulations is critical to maintaining project validity and ensuring timely completion, as delays without formal approval risk classifying projects as lapsed. Regionally, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) accounted for the highest number of approvals, with 5,494 projects, followed by the Pune region with 3,566. Vidarbha contributed 563 projects, Khandesh 520, and Marathwada 203, reflecting varying levels of activity across Maharashtra. At the district level, Pune led with 3,150 projects, followed by Thane (1,714), Mumbai Suburban (1,696), and Raigad (939). Palghar reported 568 projects, while Nagpur accounted for 474 of Vidarbha’s total. Nashik had 454 projects, Mumbai City 375, Sambhaji Nagar 155, and Kolhapur and Satara each recorded 145. Ratnagiri had 134 projects. MahaRera reiterated that developers must declare definitive completion timelines at registration, with any delays requiring formal approval for extensions.#mumbai_metropolitan_region #vidarbha #maharashtra_real_estate_regulatory_authority #pune_region #khandesh
