Surya also criticized the Karnataka government's proposed tunnel road project in Bengaluru, calling it a flawed solution to the city's traffic crisis. He argued that the project would exacerbate congestion rather than alleviate it, citing a report by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) that predicts increased traffic bottlenecks. The MLA pointed out that the government's draft project report (DPR) incorrectly used traffic data from Maharashtra's Malegaon instead of Bengaluru, undermining the project's validity. Surya estimated the tunnel road's cost at ₹39,000 to ₹40,000 crore, labeling it one of the world's most expensive road projects. The project, which would involve diverting land from the Lalbagh park, has sparked controversy over its environmental impact.
