Schools and educators, who traditionally mobilized to compile result analyses and identify toppers, deferred these efforts until Monday, citing a lack of urgency. The delay undermined one of the key objectives of the dual-examination system, which aimed to give students an opportunity to enhance their grades. Instead of strengthening their prospects for preferred junior colleges, students found themselves in a situation where the admission process had already concluded. “The delay defeated one of the key objectives of CBSE’s dual-examination system,” said a principal. “Students appeared for the optional second examination in May hoping to improve their scores, but by the time the results arrived, admissions were over and classes had already started.” For many students, the results became little more than a record of performance rather than a gateway to new opportunities. Nagpur Division Hits HSC Rock Bottom Again The Nagpur division's performance in the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations has continued to lag, marking the third consecutive year of poor results. With an overall pass percentage of 88.67%, the division has dropped nearly two percentage points compared to the previous year, placing it eighth among Maharashtra's nine administrative divisions. This ranking places Nagpur ahead of only Latur, which recorded the lowest pass percentage at 84.14%. Statewide, the overall pass rate stood at 89.79%, with Konkan division leading at 94.14%, followed by Pune at 91.25% and Amravati at 90.92%. Notably, Amravati improved its ranking, moving from fifth to third place, while Nagpur's stagnation highlights persistent challenges. Within Nagpur, the Science stream performed relatively well with a pass rate of 97.28%, while Commerce students achieved 84.53% and Arts students lagged significantly at 75.59%, underscoring a stark disparity across academic streams. A concerning trend is the scarcity of high scorers, with only 4.75% of students in the division securing marks above 75%. This places Nagpur eighth in the state for this category, far behind Nashik, which had 14.94% of students scoring above 75%, followed by Amravati at 13.29% and Mumbai at 12.06%. Even Kolhapur, at 5.10%, outperformed Nagpur, while Latur had the lowest rate at 4.64%. Gender disparities also persisted, with girls outperforming boys. Female students achieved a 92.5% pass rate, compared to 84.9% for boys, a trend consistent across the division.
