Jason Day Will Wear Bird Print at the Masters as Malbon Continues to Push Fashion Limits Stephen Malbon, the fashion-forward creative behind Jason Day’s iconic 2024 Masters look, is once again redefining the boundaries of golf attire for the 2026 tournament. This time, the designer is drawing inspiration from the avian life of Augusta National Golf Club, crafting a vibrant bird-print ensemble for Day that includes shirts, vests, and a coat. The collection features a striking array of species, including scarlet tanagers, orioles, eastern bluebirds, cardinals, blue jays, golden finches, and the red-headed woodpecker—a symbol of the Cherokee tribe in Georgia. Malbon, who has been sending audio files of bird calls to Day for six months, believes the sounds and visuals of nature can enhance the golfer’s performance. “If you’re on the course and you’re tuned in with nature and know the sounds of birds, you’ll make more birdies,” he says, emphasizing the connection between the natural world and the sport. The ensemble, however, is not without controversy. While Day’s shirt, vest, and coat are adorned with the bird prints, the club has requested he wear solid-colored pants instead of matching patterns. Malbon explains that the decision was made to balance the boldness of the upper garments with a more traditional look for the lower half. “It’s a compromise,” he says, noting that the vest he’ll wear on Wednesday is designed like a birding jacket, complete with a pocket for binoculars. The design reflects Malbon’s broader philosophy of merging cultural and natural elements into golf fashion, a concept he has championed since the 2024 Masters, when Day was asked to remove his vest during the event. Beyond the clothing, Malbon’s vision extends to the Masters week itself.#augusta_national_golf_club #jason_day #stephen_malbon #malbon_house #cherokee_tradition
