Women’s Organisations Demand Constitutional Amendment for Women’s Reservation in Parliament Women’s organisations and civil society groups, united under the National Coalition for Women’s Reservation (NCWR), launched a nationwide campaign on Friday (July 10, 2026), urging the Centre to introduce a Constitutional Amendment Bill during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. The coalition’s primary demand is to delink women’s reservation from the Census and delimitation process, ensuring that the 33% reservation in Parliament and State Legislative Assemblies is implemented immediately at the current strength of seats. They also called for the removal of any ties between the reservation policy and the politically sensitive delimitation exercise. The NCWR announced a coordinated nationwide effort to build public pressure for the immediate implementation of the quota. Central to their strategy is a series of protests, including a nationwide demonstration on July 20 and 21, followed by daily rallies at Jantar Mantar in the national capital during the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The coalition emphasized that similar protest initiatives will be organized across states and districts to amplify their demands. In addition to protests, the coalition plans to convene a national conference featuring women MPs, host webinars to engage the public, and launch a sustained social media campaign to mobilize citizens in support of the cause.
