Man Arrested in Nationwide Marble Supply Scam A 29-year-old man accused of orchestrating a nationwide marble supply scam has been arrested in Rajasthan after a week-long police operation. Sandeep Mahendra Dan Charan, a resident of Churu district, was apprehended from his remote village residence by city police crime branch officers who had previously faced challenges in tracking him down. The arrest followed a detailed investigation into a scheme that targeted businessmen dealing in high-quality Rajasthan marbles, with Charan allegedly defrauding multiple victims of significant sums. According to police, Charan operated the scam by posing as a reliable supplier of premium marble products. He built trust with his targets through phone calls and digital communications before vanishing with their payments. The operation was monitored by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Deepak Aggarwal, who oversaw the coordination of the crime branch team. The arrest marked a breakthrough after previous attempts by city police to locate Charan in Rajasthan had ended in failure. The scam allegedly began in January, when Raghunath Prasad Kumar Gujar, a 57-year-old businessman residing near Balaji Temple on Besa Road, was defrauded of Rs3.85 lakh between January 30 and February 10. Kumar lodged a formal complaint at Beltarodi police station on February 17, prompting the investigation. Senior Inspector Baburao Raut of the crime branch explained that Charan’s method involved offering lucrative deals to marble traders, only to disappear after securing their payments. Charan’s criminal history includes multiple pending cases across several states.
