Centre’s Team Inspects Pollution Control Measures in Gurgaon A team from the Union ministry of housing and urban affairs conducted a field review of pollution-control measures in Gurgaon on Monday, amid growing concerns over deteriorating air quality in the Delhi-NCR region. The inspection focused on road-cleaning operations, construction waste management systems, and civic infrastructure projects. Led by Prashant Tiwari, director (technical) of the ministry, the team began with a review meeting at the MCG office, where additional commissioner Ravinder Yadav and other officials provided updates on ongoing initiatives. The team sought information on road improvement projects, the deployment of mechanised road-sweeping machines, and the management of construction and demolition (C&D) waste. According to MCG officials, 19 mechanised road-sweeping machines are currently operating on major roads during night hours to mitigate dust pollution. A further 52 machines are planned for induction to enhance road-cleaning efforts. Following the meeting, the team visited multiple sites, including road improvement projects, the C&D waste collection point at Begampur Khatola, and the C&D waste processing plant at Basai village. At the Basai facility, officials explained the processing and disposal mechanisms for construction waste, which is a significant contributor to particulate pollution in NCR cities. The team also examined measures to prevent illegal dumping of debris, a persistent issue in the region. The inspection aimed to verify whether pollution-control measures outlined in policy were being effectively implemented on the ground.#gurgaon #union_ministry_of_housing_and_urban_affairs #prashant_tiwari #mcg_office #begampur_khatola
