Long Beach Boys Tennis Preview 2026 The 2025 Moore League boys’ tennis season promises to be highly competitive, with several teams vying for dominance. The Rams, fresh off their second CIF-SS Division 4 title in five years, enter the season with confidence and a focus on reclaiming the Moore League championship. Head coach Spencer Pozgay emphasized the importance of winning the league title, stating, “Our top goal is to win that Moore League title and bring it back to Millikan High School.” The team returns three sophomores from last year’s CIF championship squad, including Andrew Abdelmelek, who swept all his matches in the finals, Isaac Kim, who won the championship set in doubles, and Ziggy Rouret, who lost only three sets combined during the playoffs. Pozgay noted the challenges faced by these freshmen, saying, “Being able to experience CIF and another year of working with the team, I’m excited to see it translated into their play.” Despite a significant roster turnover after 11 players graduated, Pozgay believes the team’s experience in high-stakes situations will help the returning players step into leadership roles. Freshmen Tyler Mungcal and Austin Stoskopf have already established roles, while sophomores Eli Cooke and Sam Fies, promoted from JV, are also expected to contribute. The Bruins aim to defend their three-time Moore League title, though the team’s starting lineup is nearly entirely new. Senior Jake Pavia, set to transition to college tennis, leads the singles side, while Kaya Yakar heads the doubles team. Head coach Nick Medina highlighted Yakar’s improvement from the previous season and praised senior Maximus Uong for his leadership and energy. Oliver Moller, a relatively new tennis player, has shown enough progress to join the varsity and play a key role in doubles.#long_beach_boys_tennis #moore_league #rams #millikan_high_school #spencer_pozgay
