Woman Labourer Dies of Heatstroke in Kamptee Nagpur: A 34-year-old woman labourer, Dulari Dilip Verma, died of suspected heatstroke earlier this week after working for extended hours under extreme heat conditions in Kamptee. The incident occurred on Sunday, as temperatures in the region soared to around 40 degrees Celsius, according to the surface observatory at Sonegaon. Dulari, who was employed at an under-construction site near Yashodhara Lawn on Ghorpad Road, worked throughout the day under intense sunlight. By the evening, she began experiencing restlessness and discomfort, prompting her to be rushed to the sub-district hospital in Kamptee. She was pronounced dead around 8pm on Sunday, with heatstroke cited as the primary cause of her demise. The tragedy has sparked renewed concerns about the safety of daily wage workers and the adequacy of labor protections during extreme weather conditions. INTUC Nagpur district president Nafis Shaikh criticized the lack of measures to safeguard workers, stating that neither the district administration nor the Nagpur Municipal Corporation had adequately addressed the risks posed by the heatwave. "Has the heatwave planning of the district administration and Nagpur Municipal Corporation failed?" Shaikh questioned, highlighting that industrial workers and agricultural laborers were being denied basic amenities like drinking water and shaded areas. The incident underscores the vulnerability of laborers in high-temperature environments, particularly those engaged in physically demanding tasks without access to proper safety protocols. Dulari’s death has drawn attention to the broader issue of occupational health and safety, with calls for stricter enforcement of labor regulations to prevent similar tragedies.#kamptee #dulari_dilip_verma #intuc_nagpur #nafis_shaikh #yashodhara_lawn
