Boxing Star Hannah Rapp Killed in Road Rage Incident While Cycling in Texas A rising star in boxing, Hannah Rapp, 26, was fatally struck by a car driven by Charles Medina, 31, while cycling on a Texas highway, according to police. The incident occurred on Saturday morning, with Rapp, who had recently challenged for the WBC women’s featherweight championship, killed after being hit by Medina’s vehicle. Authorities stated Medina passed two bicyclists, Rapp and her boyfriend, at high speed with only a foot of space between the vehicle and the cyclists. Rapp’s boyfriend reportedly raised his arms and yelled toward the car, prompting Medina to brake abruptly. Medina then allegedly shifted into reverse, accelerated backward, and struck Rapp, sending her into the roadway. The crash caused the rear hatch of Medina’s car to be crushed inward and the rear window to shatter completely. Investigators found skid marks at the scene, indicating the vehicle had braked and then reversed before the collision. Medina claimed he heard the cyclists yell and believed they were trying to flag him down. He told investigators he started reversing and did not see Rapp until the last moment, at which point he hit her. However, physical evidence, including the skid marks and the severity of the damage, did not align with Medina’s account, leading authorities to question the accuracy of his statements. Medina, of Navasota, has a lengthy criminal history. According to jail records obtained by KBTX, he has been booked into the Brazos County Jail 13 times since 2012. His offenses include criminal mischief, theft, resisting arrest, assault, hit-and-run, escape from custody, deadly conduct, possession of a controlled substance, and multiple driving violations.
