Three NCPI MPs Skip NDA Meet, Refuse to Join Alliance or BJP Three members of the Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI), who were previously part of the Trinamool Congress, skipped a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting in Delhi on August 4, 2026, and made it clear they would not join the BJP or the NDA alliance. The MPs—Abu Taher Khan, Khalilur Rahaman, and Yusuf Pathan—represent the Murshidabad district and had previously been part of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC). This marked the second time in recent days that they had boycotted an NDA gathering, which included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Khan, the Murshidabad MP, addressed journalists at the Parliament complex, stating, “We have said that we will not be part of NDA and will never join the BJP. We are the ones facing maximum problems relating to the development-related work of our constituencies. Under no circumstances will we join the NDA or BJP; be rest assured.” Khalilur Rahaman, the Jangipur MP, stood beside Khan during the statement. The three MPs emphasized their refusal to align with the BJP-led alliance, despite having previously merged with the NCPI after the TMC’s defeat in the West Bengal Assembly election earlier that year. The NCPI, which was formed by 20 rebel TMC MPs who defected to the BJP-led NDA, held a separate coordination meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. The gathering included 22 NCPI MPs, along with three BJP Rajya Sabha MPs—Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Sushmita Dev, and Prakash Chik Baraik—who had resigned from the TMC and were re-elected to the Upper House with BJP support.#murshidabad #trinamool_congress #national_democratic_alliance #narendra_moddi #ncpi
