Government Sets New Deadline to Release Pending Scholarship Payments for 5.87 Lakh Students The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a revised timeline to resolve long-standing delays in releasing scholarship payments to approximately 5.87 lakh students. The decision aims to ensure that eligible candidates receive financial support without further administrative hurdles. The deadline for transferring funds has been set for March 16, 2026, following a directive from the state’s Social Welfare Department. This move is expected to alleviate the financial strain on students whose academic progress was disrupted by the uncertainty surrounding scholarship disbursements. The delay in scholarship payments during the 2024–25 academic session was attributed to a combination of administrative and technical challenges. Issues such as the failure of colleges to lock master data for courses like B.Pharm, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, B.Ed., and D.El.Ed. contributed to the backlog. Additionally, disruptions in the scholarship processing system left thousands of students in limbo, with their financial aid delayed. The government has now prioritized resolving these cases to prevent further academic and financial setbacks. To expedite the process, the district-level committees are tasked with completing the master data locking by March 1. Following this, departmental officials will generate online demands through the NIC system, after which the funds will be directly transferred to students’ accounts by March 16. The government has also instructed officials to streamline verification and approval procedures to minimize bureaucratic delays. Affected students are permitted to reapply for scholarships and complete any pending formalities to ensure their eligibility is confirmed.#uttar_pradesh_government #social_welfare_department #nic_system #district_level_committees #scholarship_payments
