Telangana Braces For Severe Heatwave As IMD Issues Red Alerts The India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad (IMD-H), has issued red alerts for several districts in north Telangana as the region prepares for a severe heatwave. Temperatures are expected to surpass 45°C in parts of the state over the next five days, with thunderstorms forecast in isolated eastern districts. The warning comes as heatwave conditions are set to intensify, prompting authorities to issue advisories for residents to take precautions. According to the IMD, heatwave conditions are likely to begin in isolated pockets of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Nirmal districts starting May 14. By the weekend, these conditions are expected to spread to additional districts, including Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, and Peddapalli. Red alert conditions are projected to persist in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and neighboring districts between May 15 and May 17. Maximum temperatures across Telangana are anticipated to rise by 2°C to 3°C over the next four days, exacerbating the already extreme weather. Adilabad recorded the highest temperature in the state on Wednesday, with Mavala in Ramnagar mandal logging 44.7°C. Jagtial and Nirmal districts followed closely, each recording 44.6°C. In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature at Amberpet reached 42.4°C, while several areas under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), including Mehdipatnam, Charminar, Musheerabad, and Begumpet, exceeded 41°C. The IMD warned that Hyderabad is likely to experience temperatures between 40°C and 41°C for the next 48 hours, with partly cloudy and hazy conditions expected to persist. The weather department emphasized the need for vigilance, as the heatwave is expected to impact both urban and rural areas.#hyderabad #india_meteorological_department #telangana #adilabad #nirmal
