85kg Ganja Seized in Nagpur, Two Suspects Arrested Nagpur: Law enforcement authorities in Nagpur successfully dismantled a drug smuggling operation, recovering 85 kilograms of marijuana valued at over Rs49 lakh from an under-construction building in the Jaripatka area. The operation, conducted late on Sunday night, was initiated based on a tip-off and led by senior inspector Mahesh Sagade, with assistance from head constable Ajay Patil. The raid took place in a room on the first floor of a building located in Nirmal Colony on Nara Road. During the operation, police seized nine bags containing the illicit drug, along with three mobile phones, a weighing scale, and three four-wheelers, including a mini truck, a car, and another vehicle. The arrested individuals are Firoz Khan Sardar Khan (49) and his brother-in-law Mohammad Shakeel (55), both residents of Kundanlal Gupta Nagar in Yashodhara Nagar. Firoz, who previously operated as a grain merchant, was already under arrest by the Pachpaoli police station a few days prior. Shakeel, a plumber by trade, was apprehended during the current operation. According to police, the duo admitted during interrogation that they had purchased the large quantity of ganja from their accomplice, Harpit Singh alias Happy, a resident of Kapil Nagar. Happy was already in custody for involvement in another case. The two suspects revealed that they had stored the seized narcotics in the under-construction house and used the recovered vehicles for transporting and selling the drug. A case has been registered against Firoz Khan and Mohammad Shakeel at the Jaripatka Police Station under Sections 8(a), 20(b)(ii)(c), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
