The city’s neighborhoods under the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) are particularly affected, with residents reporting hazardous conditions caused by mud accumulation and inadequate drainage. In North Nagpur, kutcha roads in multiple NIT layouts have transformed into slippery tracks, making commuting perilous. While widespread waterlogging was not reported, the lack of permanent roads has left two-wheelers skidding, pedestrians wading through ankle-deep slush, and emergency vehicles struggling to access interior localities. The worst-hit areas include Swami Nagar, Bhakti Sagar Nagar, Jai Bhim Nagar, Santa Nagar, Dhammjyoti Nagar, Malka Colony, Patel Nagar, Madhav Nagar, and Samrat Ashok Nagar. Residents have noted that this recurring issue persists every monsoon season, despite repeated demands for road development and drainage improvements. Congress corporator Dinesh Yadav from Prabhag 2 criticized the lack of action, stating, “Every monsoon, these localities are cut off by muddy roads. Despite repeated demands, there has been little effort to provide permanent roads and proper drainage.” Similar complaints have emerged from Nari village’s Gaikwad Layout and adjoining Mayur Nagar, where residents claim poor drainage has worsened the situation after recent rains. The problem extends beyond NIT areas.
