When a star passes in front of another, its gravity acts as a cosmic magnifying glass, temporarily brightening the background star’s light. If a planet orbits the foreground star, its gravity further distorts the light, creating a subtle but detectable anomaly. This method is particularly effective for finding cold, icy exoplanets, which are often missed by other planet-hunting techniques.
