CBSE Clarifies Its OSM Portal Was Not Hacked, Dismisses Social Media Claims CBSE on Tuesday addressed widespread speculation that its On Screen Marking (OSM) portal, used for evaluating Class 12 answer books, had been compromised. The board clarified that the portal was not hacked and that a recent social media claim about a security breach referred to a testing site containing sample data, not the live evaluation system. The controversy began after a 19-year-old student alleged that he had accessed the CBSE OSM portal and exposed its vulnerabilities. The student’s claim went viral, intensifying public scrutiny of the board’s digital evaluation initiative. However, CBSE stated that the URL mentioned in the social media post—cbse.onmarks.co.in—was a testing site used exclusively for internal reviews and did not store any actual evaluation data, including marks or student information. The board emphasized that the portal used for real assessments operated under a different URL and had not been breached. In a detailed statement, CBSE reiterated that no security vulnerabilities had been reported on the live evaluation portal. The board also highlighted the robust safeguards and grievance redressal mechanisms in place to ensure the integrity of the OSM system. These measures were introduced to enhance transparency in assessments, replacing the traditional physical evaluation process with a digital format. The OSM system was first implemented for the 2026 Class 12 board examinations. Under this initiative, answer books are scanned and evaluated digitally by examiners using computers, eliminating the need for manual grading. CBSE emphasized that the system was designed to streamline the evaluation process while maintaining fairness and accuracy.#class_12 #cbse #student #osm_portal #onmarks_co_in
