Chandrapur Police Trace 98% of Missing Children in 5 Years Chandrapur police have successfully traced and reunited 1,155 of the 1,176 children reported missing or kidnapped in the district between 2021 and May 2026, achieving a recovery rate exceeding 98 percent. The achievement marks a significant milestone in the district’s efforts to locate missing children, with intensive search operations continuing for the remaining 21 cases. Police officials emphasized that locating every missing child remains a top priority, underscoring their commitment to resolving these cases. The success of the operation is attributed to state-wide initiatives such as Operation Shodh and Operation Muskaan, which were conducted under the guidance of the Chandrapur Police and the Women and Child Crime Prevention Department. These operations combine advanced technological tools with coordinated field actions to track missing children across district and state boundaries. Investigators rely on platforms like the TrackChild portal, the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), CCTV footage, mobile phone location analysis, and technical intelligence to gather critical evidence. Collaboration with law enforcement agencies in other states has also been pivotal in tracing children who may have traveled outside Maharashtra. To strengthen their response, every police station in Chandrapur district has established a dedicated Missing Persons Cell. These cells are responsible for collecting intelligence, conducting technical investigations, and coordinating search efforts.
