Four women’s teams—India, Australia, Great Britain, and South Africa—have been directly qualified for the event, while men’s teams will be determined by the ICC’s T20 International rankings as of December 31, 2026. The tournament will feature six men’s and six women’s teams, with matches held at the Pomona Fairgrounds in Los Angeles, approximately 50 kilometers from the city. All matches for the 2028 Olympics will take place between July 12 and July 29, 2028. For the women’s category, two additional teams will be selected through the 2027 Olympic Qualifier tournament, which will involve 8 teams. Men’s teams will be divided into two groups of three, with each team playing four matches—two against opponents in their group and two against teams from the other group. A total of 28 matches will be held at the Pomona Cricket Stadium. The men’s qualification process will allocate one team from each of the five continents (Africa, Asia, Europe, Americas, and Oceania) based on the 2026 rankings. The sixth and final team will be decided through the 2027 Qualifier tournament, which will include all teams that did not qualify directly. The ICC will announce the tournament’s schedule and host nation later.
