The ceremony marked the resolution of a prolonged administrative dispute that had blocked the creation of a clear route from Chaura Bazar to the historic site for over several years. The road, which spans a 44.50 square-yard property previously contested over ownership, now provides public access to the site, which has been a symbol of India’s struggle for independence. The inauguration was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Poonam Singh, who paid floral tributes to Sukhdev at his ancestral home before officially opening the road. She was joined by Ashok Thapar, national president of the Shaheed Sukhdev Thapar Memorial Trust, and Tribhuvan Thapar, a descendant of the freedom fighter. The event highlighted the significance of the site as a historically revered location, which had remained difficult to reach due to the unresolved property issue. Speaking at the ceremony, Singh emphasized the enduring legacy of Sukhdev, Bhagat Singh, and Rajguru, who sacrificed their lives during the country’s freedom struggle. She stated, “These great freedom fighters laid down their lives at a very young age to free the country from foreign rule.#ludhiana #sukhdev_thapar #naughara_mohalla #shaheed_sukhdev_thapar_memorial_trust #poonam_singh https://www.hindustantimes.com/cities/chandigarh-news/ludhiana-sukhdev-s-ancestral-house-finally-gets-direct-access-road-101778869860171.html
