Future Wars Will Target Data; AI Can’t Replace Human Judgment Brig Niranjan Jog, deputy commandant of OTA (NCC), Kamptee, delivered a speech at the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration organized by Prahar Samaj Jagruti Sanstha, emphasizing that future conflicts will no longer be confined to physical battlefields but will increasingly involve cyberspace, data, financial systems, and information warfare. Jog highlighted that modern warfare has expanded beyond military domains, urging every citizen to adopt a soldier-like mindset. He warned that misinformation, disinformation, and false narratives pose a significant threat to national unity, stressing that future wars will target minds and manipulate information to divide society. Jog underscored the critical role of artificial intelligence in warfare, stating that while AI would provide valuable inputs, human judgment would remain indispensable. “AI may give me inputs, but the final call will be mine,” he said, emphasizing that decisions involving the lives of soldiers must rest with humans. He also noted that emerging technologies such as start-ups, drones, and advanced systems will play a pivotal role in India’s defense ecosystem. Drawing parallels to the Kargil War, Jog recounted how soldiers carried heavy loads of nearly 25 kg while climbing treacherous mountain heights, facing enemy forces in commanding positions. He praised their resilience and determination, urging citizens to adopt similar qualities in daily life. “They never asked why or said it was impossible.
