Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, face charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Oregon announced the arrests, revealing that the pair targeted victims through dating apps and social media starting in February 2022 and continuing until their arrest on Monday. Investigators have identified 26 victims of the scheme. According to an affidavit filed last week, Love and Chan conspired to create fake financial documents that falsely claimed they had earned millions through investments they never made. Love allegedly used these documents to convince women to send money to him or to Chan, whom he claimed was his financial advisor. He told victims that Chan had a secret investment algorithm that had generated over $30 million in profits. The affidavit noted that some victims became suspicious and searched for Love’s information online. Search engines and artificial intelligence occasionally listed Love as a bona fide 49ers player, though the NFL and the 49ers confirmed he had no connection to the team. Love used multiple aliases to conceal his identity, including Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love, Jon Love, Avril Lyto Love, and a supposed real estate investor from a wealthy Swiss family. Investigators found evidence that Love spent over $1,160 at Green Gridiron, a website that sells custom football helmets, and purchased fake money from Prop Money Inc.
