The incident occurred during the second One Day International (ODI) between Afghanistan and Ireland in Bready, which was reduced to 47 overs per side due to rain. Omarzai was found guilty of showing dissent toward an umpire’s decision during the match, leading to a formal sanction. The breach involved Omarzai remaining at the crease after being given out in the 41st over and expressing his displeasure with gestures. The ICC stated that the player admitted the offense and accepted the proposed sanction from Dean Cosker of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As a result, a formal hearing was not required. The charge was brought by on-field umpires Gareth Morrison and Roly Black, along with third umpire Johnny Kennedy and fourth umpire George Brolly. Omarzai received one demerit point, marking his first disciplinary point in 24 months.
